My Music Magazine And Evaluation

EVALUATION

How does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products
?

I spent a lot of time researching the conventions of music magazines so I think that I did a reasonably well job at getting most of them into my magazine. I made the layouts on my front page, contents page and double page spread similar to that of magazines I had previously researched. I got the conventions of font, masthead, advertisements and images. The use of colour within my product is slightly different to that of the magazines I had looked at, however I think the colour worked well with the genre of music that I chose.

How does your media product represent social groups?

My media product represents that of social groups interested in techno, dance and hip hop style music. The style of fonts that i have used work well with my product along with the use of bright colours which is usually associated with my magazines genre. The model that I have used is young enough so that teenagers will take interest.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I think that EMAP publishing's would be more likely to distribute my magazine. This is because it publishes mix mag which is very similar in genre to mine.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The audience for my magazine is those who are interested and enjoy techno, dance style music. These people tend to be 16-25 year old's. However the style and language used within the magazine may appeal more to those of a younger age.

How did you attract/address your audience?

I attracted and addressed my possible audience through the use of colour, font style and other items such as "free downloads". I said that there was interviews with named bands that they may wish to read about.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I have acquired more knowledge in how to use programmes such as Adobe photo shop, paint and Microsoft publisher due to constructing my media product. I have improved editing my photos so that they look more smoother then they once might have.

Looking back at the preliminary task, what do you feel you have learned in the progression from it to the full product?

Since constructing my preliminary task: My college magazine front cover and mock up of the contents page. I feel more capable and more confident at using programmes such as photo shop and publisher. I have learned more in depth about the conventions and industries within the music industry and how better to apply them to media products such as a music magazine. I think if I was to make another music magazine I would do a much better job due to being familiarised with the way in which it works.
